Classes

A limited number of in-person classes are available on request in Brevard County. Classes are for children in grades K-4, and topics and descriptions are listed below. Classes last 1.5 to 2 hours. You must provide the location. If you would like to request a class, please fill out the Class Request Form at the bottom of this page.

Cost (unless otherwise noted**)
Groups of 1 to 10 children: $50 total
Groups of 11-20 children: $5 per child

EI4K will email an invoice to the organizer. The total cost must be paid as one payment through PayPal the day before the class. No refunds will be issued. If students decide to attend after this payment has been made, they must pay with cash. Materials may not be available for these students.

Animals

**What Do Owls Eat?
Location: Indoors
Dissect an owl pellet, identify the bones, make a table, and create a model of a food chain to take home.
Cost: Groups of 1-10 children: $65/total; Groups of 11-20 children: $6.50/child.

What Animals Make Seashells?
Location: Beach with tables available
Collect seashells from the beach, discover which animals made them, make a table and a graph, and create Play-Doh models to take home.

**Squid Dissection
Location: Indoors or outdoors
Dissect a squid, learn the names of its external and internal parts, and write with invisible ink.
Cost: Groups of 1-10 children: $65/total; Groups of 11-20 children: $6.50/child.

What Are the Parts of a Forest?
Location: Forest with tables available
Explore a forest, use a scientific tool called a quadrat to survey the biodiversity, make a table and a pie graph, and create a diorama to take home.

How Old Are the Oak Trees? (or How Old Are the Pine Trees?)
Location: Near oak or pine trees, either indoors or outdoors with tables available
Measure the circumferences of trees, estimate their ages, make a table and a graph, create a model to take home, and make a tree cookie craft.

How Are Rocks Unique?
Location: Beach with tables available
Collect rocks from the beach, discover their properties, make a table and a graph, and create a model of a rock collection to take home.

What Are the Features of the Ocean Floor?
Location: Beach with tables available or indoors
Describe different types of landforms, make a table and a graph, and create a model of a volcano to take home.
